Frequently asked questions
Why does the Moon have phases?
We see different parts of its sunlit half as it goes round Earth. At new Moon the lit half faces away from us, at full Moon it faces us.
How long is a lunar month?
About 29.5 days from one new Moon to the next.
Is the time of the full Moon the same everywhere?
The moment is the same everywhere on Earth. The clock time depends on your time zone, so it can fall on different dates in different places.
